My son was ecstatic when I told him we were approved to see the Globies in Beaver Falls, PA, it's about an hour and fifteen minutes from our hometown of Parker. It doesn't bother me to travel to these kinds of events because, let's face it, I'm in the middle of 2 main cities here in Western PA. Erie to the North, Pittsburgh to the South. We really enjoyed a mom - son night. We got to chat, listen to music, cheer and everything else together. We even grabbed a bit to eat after wards.
I am not sure how each venue works, but they had a good system going for the merchandise area outside of the gym we were in. We were at Geneva College, so they used their concession stand for the food and refreshment options. It was actually kind of nice as our prices were exceptional, I thought. Only $2 for a slice of pizza, $2 for popcorn, soda, bottled water and most candy was $1. I thought that was nice. I, however, never carry cash and it didn't even dawn on me that they may not take debit or credit cards. The Harlem Globetrotter Merchandise tables DID accept debit/credit cards, but since the concessions were through the college, they were not equipped for that. Oh, how I wish they would have been, the proceeds were going for a trip of some kind for a group of some type on the campus. It was so busy I really didn't get to read it too well. If they had a Square reader or even a PayPal reader they would have made SO much to give to that group. Ok enough of my side tracking, LOL!
You can CLICK HERE to see all the merchandise and check out the prices. I really didn't feel they were too expensive either. I bought my son the regular size basket ball for $25. Of course like any other teenager, he wanted the game ball, but they were $60 and I just didn't want to spend that at this time, on a basketball that he can't even play with in this weather because his hoop is outside, we're in PA, one day it's 70° the next it is -20°, the ball was an indoor/outdoor material, like a leather almost...not for in the mud or slush/snow.
I will say that my son about lost his little mind when one of the Globetrotter guys came over and asked him to participate in the one little skit out on the gym floor with a few other kids and a couple of the Globies! I took a video, I was trying to hard to get a good one but I kept being bumped and so on because I really wasn't in a seat or anything. I just ran down to the floor from our high bleacher seats and shot the video.
Another highlight of the evening is when Globie comes out. I am glad I got this little video. I tried getting some more of his little dance and skit but, too many people kept crossing in front of me and standing up.
Overall, this is a great family event with a lot of interaction with the kids and the crowd. Save 25% with Code: FUNFAM by CLICKING HERE to purchase tickets! You can SUBSCRIBE to my YouTube Channel!
