So, I was sitting here watching TV with my kids, and I had to think, what the hell happened to children's TV and movies? Sometimes, it is painful to sit through the crap they put on for kids today. My number one dislike... New Nickelodeon NickToons. Rabbids, Something Cockroaches, SONJAY & CRAIG (OMG Cringe).
So with the help of Amazon, with my DVD collection over the years, and Netflix for streaming great favorites, I have compiled a list of my Top 10 Favorites of my childhood. (Remember, I am 32.)

The Lorax - THE ORIGINAL!
I absolutely love this little cartoon. I actually still have my VHS tape from when I was little, and my kids loved it as well

Pete's Dragon
I remember watching this when I stayed with my grandpa on the weekends as a kid. I absolutely love this movie and now that I think of it, it is definitely on my list of to buy DVDs to share with my kiddos!

Short Circuit
Because Johnny 5 is ALIVE!!! This is one of the most memorable movies ever! I tried getting my kids to watch it, but I guess the robots there are now in movies are "Way cooler" as my kids have informed me...

Bedknobs & Broomsticks
Who couldn't love the wonder and imagination of a flying bed, that takes you to amazing places?!? My kids told me "It's just not going to happen, we don't have a ball on the bed to turn..." Oh well, this is still one of my favorites!

Hocus Pocus
I actually still watch this movie every chance I get to this day! I got the kids to watch it last Halloween, but they just don't understand what a good movie is, modern times have ruined imagination, in my opinion.

E.T.
The movie that caught my attention, made me think about space, how awesome Reese's Pieces really are, and how I wanted my finger to light up! E-L-L-I-O-T-T riding that bike so famously across the moon as the poster depicts! I think we're going to watch it this weekend, I have not yet showed the kids this masterpiece!

The NeverEnding Story
Because, who doesn't want their own flying dragon? Who doesn't want to experience a book in all it's imaginative glory? My kids actually love this strange tale of wonder, trying to save Fantasia with Atreyu...

The Land Before Time
A beautiful story of friendship, bravery, courage, and perseverance. Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie, and Spike... friends I will remember forever! I kind of liked a couple of the sequels, but they got kind of old after a while. My daughter loves Chomper from one of the later movies!

The Dark Crystal
Maybe it's just me, but I love Jim Henson Films! The Dark Crystal is a brilliant story of greatness! The wonderful mind of Henson at his finest with the best characters and mysterious beings...My kids are kind of confused by it, but they are used to modern kids shows. Like I said, kids don't have the imagination like we did as kids. Jen & Kira (the last of the Gelflings) will forever be a true love story to me. We watch this on the regular, since I have the DVD and it is on Netflix as well. I want them to have IMAGINATION!

Labrynth
This was a hard decision for number 1. While I love the Goblin King and all his wonderfully strange ballads, it is the fairy tale part of this I like. And... it is a Jim Henson Film as well. My kids like this, and I make references all the time, how I will say the words and the Goblin King will come take them like he did Toby lol. I love all the characters and the story as well as the imagination that went into every single puppet! My kids love this movie and we watch it on the regular too, since I have the DVD and it is on Netflix as well.

Also, if you notice, I tried to use the best original movie posters I could find on Google. These images belong to the companies who created them. However, after some more research last night when I started this little project, I did find older advertisements for some of these movies, that were when I was very little, some of these movies are even before I was born or as I was a baby. These are the way I remember my VHS tapes on the shelf. What a great trip down memory lane! I think I will do another one of my favorite shows and cartoons as well. I hope you enjoyed this nostalgia run as much as I did!
